Lord Alderich Hokma the Second of the House Greneve

Age: No one really knows. His family, since became traveling nomads, never really kept track of universal perception of time. All he can be sure of, it is that it was before Calamity.Guild status: Lord/KeterJob: His main profession, and a job that made him the most amount of money, helping in rebuild of an old House, is an Alchemist. However, he is in a possession of his family's treasure - four Souls Crystals they gathered along their travels, adventures and discoveries. With those he is proficient with being Black Mage, Red Mage, Summoner, and Blue Mage.Personality: Alderich is usually a very warm, friendly and well-mannered person. Probably over proper level of those, overusing terms as "Sir/Ser", "Master", "Mistress" etc., to hide his low knowledge on those topics. After spending most of his life on a road, switching his place of living almost every second day, it is not easy to get use to proper city lifestyle, but being nice is a good disguise.Story of the House Greneve:
Beginning - It is not an easy task to find any information these days about progenitors of House Greneve. In the oldest books of ishgardian libraries, there are mentions of a family with name like that, describing it as one of the earliest founded in Ishgard, starting as an ally to House Dzemael, and being as much power hungry as them. There are some notes about them being talented mages but that's about it. No specific names, no information about their lands. The only other information that can be retrieved from old annals of history, is a fact that old House Greneve ended with three hiers, sons Alderich the First and Tehril and a daughter Raloshan, being exiled from the land of Coerthas for crimes now forgotten.
Living on an exile - No one can be sure who continued the Greneve bloodline, even the family itself, since their stories were told only from mouth-to-mouth, never written to any book. Was it Alderich, Tehril or Raloshan? Were there more Greneve's caravans traveling around the world? Again, no answers to those questions. The only thing we know is that after being exiled, Greneve's Family decided to live on the road, flying around the world with their one airship called Feshya. They left their marks around the globe, visiting Meracydia, Ilsabard, Aldenard and Othard. Sometimes they appeared as merchants, sometimes as researchers, and sometimes even as a regular sell swords. All manner of jobs and professions just to make a living. They never stayed anywhere for long, they didn't make a lot of contacts with locals. Usually they disappeared as quick as they appeared, bringing with them strange books, artifacts and concoctions.
Modern Greneve's Family - Most information about Greneves comes from Alderich's grandmother, Nyxopheya Greneve. She was a very ambitious thaumaturge, obsessed with stories about old Black Mages cities like Mhach or Dun Sciath. She was devoted so much to exploration of those places, that she even sold Feshya to found her expedition. Likewise, she managed to do that, handling her family's beloved aircraft to the family of Mandervilles for a large amount of gold, and with that she finally had a chance to visit those forgotten lands. Details about those adventures are shrouded in mystery, but she was able to retrieve her family's current treasures - Soul Crystals. Black Mage, Red Mage and Summoner, ancient knowledge of the previous ages was at her hands, and with that she continued a plan to bring back fame and power to name Greneve. Her legacy was those three Soul Crystals, two children and some forbidden experiment she conducted in the mountains of Gyr Abania.
The story continues with her son Rahabelius and daughter Arvilion. Left with no airship, only with a regular caravan wagon, with little to none money left, they had to decide what to do with their lives. Rahabelius decided to leave his family shady past behind him and joined La Noscea's naval forces. Arvilion on the other hand, picked up mother's research and decided to work with Souls Crystals, trying to unlock their hidden potential.
In doing so, Arvilion discovered and witnessed on her own Nyxopheya's experiment. Nyxopheya created a special, aetherical link, combined to the soul of her and inherited by her offspring, that was able to store aether and magical potential of previous generation, resulting in children acquiring knowledge and power of their parents, almost like Soul Crystals. That's how Arvilion understood why she and her brother knew so little about their father - Nyxopheya literally just bought out a night with a potent mage, so she could give birth to "better heirs".
Rahabelius met his end on a sea, fighting for pirates of La Noscea. There was a lot of gossip about his potential lovers and maybe even children, but nothing ever got official. Arvilion was still continuing her mother's plan, but the world was becoming more dangerous every year. On Ilsabard a new empire, based on magitech, was rising, and new wars were starting to broke out around the continents. Roads became more hostile than ever, so Greneve Family needed one thing - stabilization.
Harsh times proven that finding a proper partner would be an almost impossible task to do. Arvilion knew that if she would die childless, then all of their research would be in vain. Therefore, just to secure continuation of Greneve's bloodline, she seduced a random elezen she met in one of the cities she visited, just so she would be impregnated. And thus, Alderich the Second was born to this world.Story of Alderich Greneve:
Background - Child of Arvilion Geburah Greneve and unknown merchant from Black Shroud, Alderich's life wasn't easy. His family already was running low on founds, his father wasn't even around when Alderich was born and never stuck around, and his mother was slowly eaten from the inside by some unknown sickness. Despite all of that, since childhood Alderich showed very unusual talent with the art of alchemy. With that, he quickly managed to get an apprenticeship at an apothecary store and started to make his own money. He tried helping Arvilion, but Greneves never treated each other like family and more like a business partners, therefore neither Arvilion wanted Alderich to take pity on her nor Alderich wanted to spend everything he got on a dying person.
Arvilion knowing that she will not survive, passed the family's Soul Crystals to young Alderich, but also her research and notes of Nyxopheya's old laboratory. The funeral was short and meager, but that was just a beginning of Alderich's long journey.
A local apothecary shop quickly became not enough for a young and ambitious alchemist, so with gils he made, and an old family's caravan wagon he ventured into the great world again, as did his ancestors. His ultimate goal was supposed to be the old research facility of his grandmother, but in a meantime he tried to make as much money as he could. And in fact with his skills and abilities, being able to not only prepare complicated concoctions but also to enhanced them with powers provided by Soul Crystals, his products quickly became famous. And with fame, came even richer customers, with even stranger and darker request - but for Alderich gils were gils, he never said no to any request. Years were passing by, his vault was filled to the brim, and he started to really enjoy a life of wandering alchemical merchant. However, war with Garlean Empire was about to begin, and with that, a new Calamity. Seeing chaos spreading around the Eorzea, Alderich decided to take a refuge in mountains of Gyr Abania, where Nyxopheya's old laboratory was build, according to his mother's research.
The facility was created deep inside those mountains, so it was very well hidden and managed to save Alderich during the most devastating events of Seventh Umbral Era, leading to Calamity. During those events, Alderich had a lot of time to think about his life, and what awaits him in a future. He started to yearn for something that his family never had for a hundred of years - a proper home. With his talent, knowledge and of course gils, he traveled for a few more years, and decided to take a chance when Ishgard once again opened its gates for newcomers.
Reestablishing his old House was easier than he thought, since Ishgard being torn apart by its conflict with dragons, Calamity and even its own political race for power, was open for people with a lot of gils, being able to invest in freshly rebuilt Empyreum. There were some problems in historical department, but with enough money even old archivist turned a blind eye on lack of proper evidences of Alderich actually belonging to this old House.
Current times - Right now, Alderich is in a process of establishing House Greneve's proper status. His achievements so far:
- Rebuilding a proper estate for him and his court.
- Establishing a Free Company, working in the name of House Greneve.
- Recruitment of Yunis Aloti, Haru Koharu and Maiwyn Trewella to his Free Company.

- He bought Feshya back from Manderville's family.

- Marriage with House Aloti's hier, Yunis Aloti.

It happened soon after Calamity, and Alderich emerged from his hideout in Gyr Abania's mountains. During his hiding, he had a lot of time to contemplate on life and his grandmother's research. He discovered her experiment and how Greneves souls are branded to be similar in nature to Soul Crystals. In his revelation, he understood what he must do - He needed a proper heir.During his preparation to get back to living on a road as an alchemist-for-hire, he met quite peculiar man - middle-aged viera, in need of help. He called himself Addarion Rouath,
scientist living in his self-sustaining castle, hidden deep in the frozen wasted of Garlemald. However, with death of his wife Yunsaya, the spells helping to hide and protect his domain are getting weaker and weaker, and he needed a new way to fuel it all. Alderich saw a good business opportunity in that situation, so the two of them started some talks and negotiations. During that time Addarion get to know about Alderich's ambitions and in return, Greneve learned about powerful lineage of witches born in that family, as well that Addarion has an unmarried child. Alderich's eyes glowed with excitement about those news, and he quickly declared a deal - his help for Addarion's child. Viera agreed.Alderich worked day and night, week after week, to complete this task. He knew what he needed to create - an aetheryte-type engine, able to draw aether from surrounding terrain, just like Black Mages did. The work was exhausting, draining on his mental and magical forces, even hurting him physically in that process, but after months of work he managed to complete one of his magnum opus. Addarion was more than pleased, left with his new magical engine and sent an escort with his child, to handle it to Alderich. However, for Greneve shock, when the carriage arrived he didn't see his future wife but... A young viera boy. It was clear that Addarion for reason stayed ambiguous about his son details, always calling him only by his name, Yunis Aloti, to fool Alderich into thinking that it is a daughter. Greneve was furious that he let himself being played to that extent, but what could he do now? He took Yunis with him, so he could venture with him as his apprentice.

They traveled together for the next years, growing closer and closer every day. Yunis silly but cheerful attitude helped to brighten up Alderich's gloomy days, and his sharp senses and a bit of obliviousness paradoxically helped with a lot of Greneve's conundrums. And with every occurrence like this, a thought was born in Alderich's mind. "Maybe there is something more to this life than just a pursuit of power?" Because in fact a new feeling grew in his heart. A warm feeling of love towards his silly companion. Something that he started to crave more than ambition of his accursed grandmother.And with that, after Alderich managed to build a new House Greneve, he proposed to Yunis, to be his wife-husband and second in command in an Inkaustus Free Company. With a great joy for Alderich, Yunis agreed and to this day they are happily married.
